Hi! What a pleasure to find a nice comment from someone! (sorry about the duplicate email!)

I have a lot I need to update on this site. It’s not dead, I just sort of forgot to keep it up!

I do post a little on Ravelry as Jvar. I had my notes on my hat there, but I’ll include it here in case you aren’t on Ravelry.

I started with a provisional cast on of 88 stitches using the wool on circular needles.
Knit 1 around.
Next 9 rows repeat 9K 2P.
K2T K7 2P Repeat around
Next 4 rows 8K 2P
K2T K6 2P Repeat around
K2T K5 2P (change to DP when it gets tight)
K2T K4 2P
K2T K3 2P
K2T K2 2P
K2T K1 2P
K2T 2P
K1 P2T
Cut tail and thread through remaining 6 stitches and pull tight

Remove provisional cast on and knit one round with the two strands of the Chichi, Decreasing 4 stitches evenly

K1 P1 around
K3 P1 around

Repeat above pattern 2 times
Repeat pattern, Decreasing 4 stitches

Repeat from * to * until you are working with 72 stitches.

Use up all the Chichi making the brim and cast off with a size 10 needle.

Fold the brim so that it’s 3 layers thick. Gently tease the fibers out to make it fluffier. I used a DP needle to just slip the single strands of fur up to the outside so that you can’t see any stitches.

The brown and cream hat was done with Lion Brand Fun Fur and Paton Classic Wool.

The pink and cream hat was done with Moda Dea Tiara Pinkie and Paton Classic Wool

I hope this helps and thank you for your note!

I stumbled upon your blog by accident. Funny enough I too had one of those "why am I up at this hour" moments thinking of a hat pattern. This is exactly the pattern I envisioned. Sadly I noticed you have not posted since then and I was wondering if you are still knitting or have you moved on to another site. I would love to have this cossack style hat pattern if it is available, if not where I may get it. Love your blog, you sound like a very interesting person. I now understand why you posted as "She Just Can't Sit Still".

Regards,
